ERP Support for Manufacturing in Ontario, Planned Around Your Production Schedule
ERP support for manufacturing in Ontario covers everything your ERP depends on: the server or cloud tenant, the network, backups, user access, updates and integrations. ACT360 supports Sage, Dynamics and QuickBooks environments, with changes scheduled outside your shifts.
When the ERP is slow or down, quotes stall, the floor can’t see job priorities and shipping can’t invoice. This page is for owners, controllers and plant managers at Ontario manufacturers with roughly 15 to 100 people. For the wider picture, see IT for manufacturing, or ACT360 managed IT services.
What Does ERP Support Actually Cover for a Manufacturer?
Two layers. Your ERP vendor or reseller looks after the software: licensing, configuration and version upgrades. Your IT partner looks after everything the ERP runs on and connects to, which is where a lot of what a plant calls “an ERP problem” actually sits.
ACT360’s ERP and accounting system support covers Sage, Dynamics and QuickBooks: integration support, setup, training and ongoing support, delivered with the rest of your plant’s IT. Vendor management is part of ACT360 Managed IT, so one named contact chases the vendor when the fault really is in the software.
Why Does the ERP Slow Down or Stop in a Plant?
Usually for ordinary reasons: an ageing server, a weak connection on the floor, an untested update or data typed into three places. Each one has a specific fix.
For the network side, IT for multi-location manufacturers covers what changes when the ERP serves more than one site.
Is Your ERP Running on Software That’s Losing Support?
Check two things: the ERP version and the database and PCs underneath it. Several pieces many Ontario plants still run have recently lost, or are about to lose, vendor support.
- SQL Server 2016 reached the end of extended support on July 14, 2026, according to Microsoft. Many on-premises ERPs store their data in SQL Server, so an older plant server may be running it without anyone noticing.
- Microsoft Dynamics GP stopped new perpetual licence sales on April 1, 2025 and new subscriptions on April 1, 2026. Product and tax updates end December 31, 2029, and security updates end April 30, 2031 (summary of Microsoft’s announced dates).
- Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025 (Microsoft lifecycle). Shop floor terminals and the PC beside a machine are often the last to be replaced.
None of these breaks anything on the day support ends. The risk is that the system your plant runs on stops getting security fixes, and you find out during an incident. ACT360 records versions and support dates during the assessment, then plans upgrades or migrations with your ERP vendor around the production calendar. The background on ERP types and deployment options is in what an ERP system is.
How Do Integrations Stop the Double Data Entry?
By connecting the ERP to the tools around it, so a job number, quote or invoice is entered once and flows wherever else it’s needed.
In a typical plant, the same job gets typed into the ERP, the quoting tool, the scheduling spreadsheet and the invoice. Every re-entry is a chance for a mistake, and it’s why the owner can’t answer “where are we on this order?” without walking the floor. ACT360 builds the pieces that close those gaps:
- ERP and CRM integrations, so data goes in once and reaches the other systems on its own.
- Custom applications where no product fits: a quoting tool built around your process, or a job costing app that matches how you track work.
- Internal dashboards that pull production, financial and scheduling data into one view.
- A customer portal where clients check order status and download invoices without calling the office.
Integration and app work is scoped per project. See custom web applications for how that work runs, and AI automation for manufacturing for why clean, connected ERP data comes before any AI project.
What Has ACT360 Built on Top of Business Data?
Dashboards that people actually open. For a multi-location healthcare provider, ACT360 embedded Power BI reports in the client’s existing intranet and cut estimated reporting costs from about $600 a month to under $50.
The client isn’t a manufacturer, but the problem will sound familiar: the financial and operational data already existed, mostly in Excel, and nobody looked at it. Staff sign in with their existing Microsoft 365 accounts, each location sees only its own numbers next to the overall average, and the reporting capacity switches on only when someone opens a report. That’s why the cost follows usage, not headcount. The full story is in the Power BI Embedded case study.
A plant can use the same pattern on ERP data: job status, margins by job and on-time shipments, visible to the people who need them without a separate licence for everyone who glances at a number.
How ACT360 Supports a Plant’s ERP
A.C.T.I.O.N.
ACTION is ACT360’s named process. For an ERP, it means nothing on the server or the floor changes until we understand how your orders, jobs and invoices actually move.
Assess
We review the ERP version, the server or hosting, the network on the floor, backups and who has access.
Comprehend
Which steps stop the plant if the ERP is down, and where data is typed in more than once.
Tailor
A prioritized plan: what to fix this month, what to upgrade before support ends, and what to leave alone.
Implement
Server, network and access changes rolled out in phases, scheduled outside production hours.
Optimize
Monitoring, tested restores and regular reviews, with recommendations you didn’t have to ask for.
Nurture
Training for your team, so new hires get ERP access on day one and leavers lose it the same day.
5 Things to Have Documented About Your ERP
Version and support dates
Which ERP version and database you run, and when each one stops getting security fixes.
Who to call
Your vendor or reseller contact, the support plan you pay for, and what it covers.
Admin accounts
Who holds them, with MFA on every one.
Restore time
How long a full ERP restore actually takes, proven by a test, not assumed.
Integrations
What feeds in and out of the ERP, and who built and maintains each connection.
What Does ERP Support Cost a Manufacturer?
Support for the systems around your ERP is part of an ACT360 Managed IT agreement, priced per user. Integration and custom app work is scoped separately, and ERP licences stay with your vendor.
For the per-user side by plant size, see what managed IT costs a manufacturing business in Ontario. When ERP support is delivered as part of an ACT360 Managed IT agreement, that agreement includes a 90-day exit clause. If the ERP server is also your biggest security worry, cybersecurity for manufacturing in Ontario covers how to protect it.

Questions Plant Owners Ask About ERP Support
Because vendor support usually stops at the software itself, and many ERP problems in a plant live in the server, the network, the backups or someone’s access.
Someone has to own that layer. Vendor management is part of ACT360 Managed IT, so when the issue does sit with the software, the named contact who knows your plant logs it with the vendor and follows it through instead of leaving you in the middle.
Sage, Dynamics and QuickBooks are the ERP and accounting systems ACT360 supports for manufacturers, including integration support, setup, training and ongoing support.
If you run something else, the assessment confirms what we can support before you commit to anything.
Not when they’re planned properly: patches, updates and ERP server changes are tested first and scheduled outside production hours, so the floor never becomes the test environment.
Sometimes, but not by default: it depends on your ERP version, what your vendor supports in the cloud, how your integrations connect and how reliable the plant’s internet connection is.
A plant with one site, a solid connection and a cloud-ready ERP version may gain a lot. A plant with machine integrations that expect a local database may be better served by a newer server on site with an offsite backup.
ACT360 compares both options during the assessment and plans any move around your production calendar, not over a weekend cutover.
December 31, 2029 is the end of product and tax updates for Dynamics GP, and security updates stop on April 30, 2031, based on Microsoft’s announced dates.
New GP subscriptions stopped on April 1, 2026. A move to another ERP takes planning, data cleanup and testing, so map your options well before 2029 and book the cutover outside your busiest season.
Two parts: support for the systems around your ERP sits inside a per-user Managed IT agreement, and integration or custom app work is scoped as a separate project.
ERP licences and the vendor’s own support plan are billed by your vendor. Our guide to managed IT costs for Ontario manufacturers breaks down the per-user side by plant size.
