A side-by-side look at the IT support options available to law firms in Barrie, Orillia and across Simcoe County, from local managed IT providers to legal specialists in the GTA.
Law firms in Simcoe County have a smaller pool of IT providers to choose from than firms in downtown Toronto, and the stakes aren’t any lower. A 12-person practice in Barrie holds the same privileged files, trust account access and limitation dates as a firm on Bay Street.
This list compares the IT support options realistically available to firms in Barrie, Orillia, Innisfil, Collingwood and the rest of the county, from local managed IT services in Simcoe County to legal specialists and national providers based in the GTA. ACT360 is on the list, and we’ve ranked ourselves first. We’ve tried to be specific about why, and honest about where another option might suit your firm better.
How Did We Evaluate These Options?
Every provider was compared on the same 5 factors, using what each one publishes and what we found in our August 2026 review of IT support companies in Simcoe County.
- Local presence, meaning a real office or team inside or near Simcoe County.
- Legal evidence, such as published law firm case studies or named legal software support.
- Pricing transparency, including whether pricing is published at all.
- Contract flexibility, including how a firm can leave.
- Security depth, since confidentiality obligations and insurer questions land on every firm.
No provider paid for placement. Where we couldn’t verify something, we’ve said so rather than guessed.

Which IT Support Providers Serve Law Firms in Simcoe County?
Here’s each option in more detail, in our order of fit for a typical Simcoe County firm.
1. ACT360 Web & IT, the Local Partner With Law Firm Proof
ACT360 has been based in Barrie since 2009 and supports law firms as one of its core verticals. Its clearest legal proof point is a published case study moving an Ontario law firm off a vendor-locked RDS environment and onto Microsoft Azure, which delivered immediate performance gains and lower IT costs for the firm.
Why it ranks first
- A named contact model. Firms work with Adam Bowles or Jeffrey Bowles directly, not a rotating help desk.
- The ACTION methodology, which starts with an assessment of how the firm actually works before any recommendation.
- Published pricing of $80 to $150 per user per month for full-service managed IT, with Microsoft licensing billed separately.
- A 90-day exit clause on Managed IT agreements.
- Breadth beyond IT, including client portals, workflow apps and secure AI enablement built around how a firm runs.
Limitations ACT360 isn’t a legal-only provider, so firms that want a team working exclusively with law practices may prefer a specialist. Per-user pricing also isn’t the lowest on the market.
Best for Simcoe County firms of roughly 10 to 50 people that want a local team, a named contact, and a partner who can handle IT, security and the systems around it.
2. Pavliks, the Longest Track Record in Barrie
Pavliks has operated in Barrie since 1969 and lists 50 to 249 employees on its Manifest profile, which makes it the largest local team on this list. In our August review, it presented cybersecurity as the centre of its offering.
Strengths Longevity, team depth and a security-first model, which suits firms that want a bigger bench close to home.
Limitations Legal isn’t among the industries listed on its Manifest profile, and we didn’t find published law firm case studies or pricing.
Best for Firms that put local history and security depth first and are comfortable confirming legal software experience during the sales process.
3. IT Specialists, for Firms That Want a Response Guarantee
IT Specialists has served Barrie since 1998. In our August review, it was the only local provider offering a financially backed 1-hour response guarantee.
Strengths A clear, written response commitment, which matters to a firm that can’t afford to wait when a filing deadline is close.
Limitations We found no published case studies, legal experience or pricing, and its services focus on IT support rather than strategy or systems work.
Best for Smaller firms whose main frustration is waiting on support.
4. Fusion Computing, the GTA Legal Specialist
Fusion Computing has a dedicated law firm practice that names support for Clio, PCLaw, ProLaw, Cosmolex, iManage and NetDocuments, along with 24/7 security monitoring and backups it says are restore-tested quarterly. It’s also one of the few providers that publishes a legal price, starting at $185 per user per month for fully managed IT and security.
Strengths Legal-specific depth and unusually transparent pricing.
Limitations Its listed offices are in Toronto and Dundas, so on-site work in Simcoe County means travel. It’s also the highest published price on this list.
Best for Firms that want a legal-only specialist and mostly need remote support.
5. F12.net, National Scale
F12.net has operated since 1992 and has a Barrie service page, with law firms listed among the professional services it supports. Its page doesn’t list a Barrie office address.
Strengths A large national provider with a broad service catalogue, including compliance and managed detection and response.
Limitations No local office address published, no legal-specific pricing, and a national provider’s support model may not offer the same named-contact continuity as a local firm.
Best for Multi-office firms that value national coverage over local familiarity.
What About Hiring In-House or Using Break-Fix Support?
Both are real options, and both have a place.
An in-house IT person gives you someone down the hall who knows every partner by name. The trade-off is cost and coverage. ACT360’s own estimate puts a full-time IT manager in Ontario at $80,000 to $120,000 a year before benefits, and one person can’t cover vacations, sick days and every specialty. Many firms that go this route add co-managed IT for backup and security tooling.
Break-fix support, where you call someone when something breaks, looks cheap until something does. Nobody is patching, monitoring or testing backups in between. For a firm holding privileged client files, that’s a hard gap to defend if an insurer or client asks how your data is protected.
How Should a Law Firm Choose IT Support?

The Law Society of Ontario’s Technology practice management guideline says lawyers should have a reasonable understanding of the technologies used in their practice, or access to someone who does. For most small firms, your IT provider is that someone. Choose accordingly.
Ask every provider on your shortlist these questions.
- Which practice management and document systems do you already support for other law firms?
- Who will be our named contact, and who covers when they’re away?
- How do you document our security controls if LAWPRO, a client or an auditor asks?
- How often do you test restoring our backups, and will you show us the results?
- What would it cost us to leave, and how do our data and admin access come back to us?
If you’re also pricing options, our guide to how much IT support costs a law firm gives realistic monthly numbers by firm size. And if continuity matters to you, read why law firms need a named IT contact.
Conclusion
ACT360 Web & IT ranks first for Simcoe County law firms because it combines a local team, a named contact, published pricing, published law firm proof and a 90-day exit clause on Managed IT. Pavliks offers the longest local history and the biggest local bench. IT Specialists leads on guaranteed response. Fusion Computing is the most legal-focused option if a GTA-based team works for you, and F12.net brings national scale.
The right fit depends on your firm’s size, systems and how much you value someone who already knows your practice. If you’d like to talk it through, talk to our team or call 705-739-2281.
