Cloud Migration in Markham for Firms That Need More Than a Lift-and-Shift
ACT360 moves Markham businesses to Microsoft 365, Azure or a hybrid setup in tested phases, starting with an inventory of what you run and ending with a team that knows where everything lives.
Microsoft is building a datacentre in Markham and colocation space is already local. Neither one moves your server for you. ACT360 plans Markham migrations as part of our cloud migration services for Ontario businesses, alongside our work across Markham.
What Does Markham’s Datacentre Growth Mean for a Local Business Moving to the Cloud?
It means more options, not fewer decisions. Markham businesses can choose public cloud, local colocation or a hybrid of both, and the right answer depends on your applications, your clients’ requirements and your budget.
Microsoft is building a datacentre in Markham. First-phase site work started in May 2024, and as of August 2026 the site is still being prepared, with construction of the building expected to begin in late 2026. It isn’t operating yet. Today, Canadian Azure workloads run in Microsoft’s Canada Central region in Toronto and Canada East region in Quebec.
Colocation is already local. In October 2023, Cologix completed TOR4, a 15MW datacentre at 105 Clegg Road and its fourth in the Markham area. And Markham-headquartered IBM Canada expanded its Technology Expert Labs in 2024 with a focus that includes hybrid cloud.
For a 25-person firm, none of that changes the basic job: figure out what you run, decide where each piece belongs and move it without breaking anything. That’s the work ACT360 does. Our Azure migration case study shows how one Ontario law firm escaped a vendor-locked remote desktop setup.
What’s Included in ACT360 Cloud Migration in Markham
For Markham firms that work with enterprise clients and need the move done properly the first time.
Workload Placement Plan
Each system matched to Microsoft 365, Azure, colocation or staying put, with the reasoning written down.
Security and Compliance Setup
Identity, device and data protection configured to answer the security questions enterprise clients send.
Phased Cutover
Systems move in planned stages with testing, so staff and clients don’t notice the change.
Cost Monitoring
Cloud spending reviewed after go-live, so the monthly bill matches what you planned.
Public Cloud vs. Local Colocation vs. an ACT360 Hybrid Plan
Markham businesses have more hosting options than most. Here’s how they compare for a typical small or mid-sized firm.
How Much Does Cloud Migration Cost in Markham?
ACT360 quotes Markham cloud migrations in writing after the free IT Readiness Assessment. Cost depends on data volume, number of users, application complexity and whether any workloads need Azure or colocation hosting. Licensing is billed separately.
The most common budget surprise in a migration isn’t the project fee. It’s ongoing cloud costs that were never modelled. We estimate the monthly running cost alongside the migration quote, so you can compare it with what your server costs now.
- Users, mailboxes and data volume
- Applications that need hosting or rework
- Security and compliance requirements from clients
- Number of offices and remote staff
Ongoing care is available through Managed IT services in Markham at $80 to $150 CAD per user per month for full service, or $75 to $120 remote-only.
Our Approach
A.C.T.I.O.N.
For a Markham migration, ACTION starts by deciding where each workload belongs, because with this many hosting options, the wrong choice is easy to make and expensive to undo.
Assess
A real look at what’s running today and how your team actually uses it, not a quote built from a headcount and a device list.
Comprehend
We dig into why things are set up the way they are and where the business is headed over the next 2 to 5 years.
Tailor
Each system gets a placement recommendation, a migration method and a monthly running cost before anything is approved.
Implement
Workloads move in planned phases, each tested before the next begins.
Optimize
Quarterly reviews cover business outcomes, not ticket counts, and bring recommendations you didn’t have to ask for.
Nurture
We build relationships with your whole team, not just the owner, so every conversation starts with context.
How ACT360 Keeps a Markham Cloud Migration Low-Risk
Financial
Migration work is quoted in writing after the assessment, with running costs estimated up front. The 90-day exit clause applies to Managed IT agreements, not standalone migration projects.
Switching
Old systems stay available until their replacements have been tested by your team.
Political
A clear plan you can share with partners or with clients who ask how their data is handled.
Operational
Adam or Jeffrey stays your named contact from planning through go-live.
Ownership
Your cloud tenant, subscriptions and admin accounts are registered to your business.

The Team Values Behind ACT360’s Cloud Migrations in Markham
Good migrations come from careful people, which is why these values guide every project.
Be the Client
We listen to our clients and other team members to understand the full scope of the requirements and goals. We put ourselves in your shoes as we design and build the processes, tools, and infrastructure that will make your team more productive.
Give the 360° Solution
Our goal is to give our clients the full solution, so your technology becomes a profit enhancer rather than a profit hindrance. That’s why we offer more than a service desk or IT support. We bring a vCIO, IT strategy, and process improvement to the table.
Be a Problem Solver
We look beyond the problem to find its actual source so we can resolve it. When we work with your team and any vendors, we make sure every issue at hand is fully addressed.
Always Looking Forward
We strive to deal with our mistakes as a team, learn from them, fix them, and then not look back and repeat them. We also aim to provide proactive and forward-facing solutions by identifying issues as soon as they’re spotted.
Working to Live, Not Living to Work
We want our employees to feel supported to take care of family and personal needs. So we believe in creating a flexible, asynchronous, and remote-friendly workplace, as long as the work is getting done well and on time, then we are satisfied.
Treating Employees Like Experts
We believe our employees are experts who can be trusted to own their work and feel empowered to improve results. So we trust our experts to create solutions in efficient ways that work for them and to seek continual improvement, for the company and for others.
What Markham Businesses Ask About Cloud Migration
There’s no need to wait. Microsoft’s Markham facility is still under construction, and Canadian workloads already run in the Canada Central region in Toronto. Your data stays in Canada either way.
No. Some older applications run better on a local server or in colocation. We recommend a placement for each system, and a hybrid setup is often the right answer.
Usually. A well-configured Microsoft 365 and Azure environment makes it much easier to show multi-factor sign-in, device control and data protection when clients ask.
A small office moving email and files often finishes in a few weeks. Firms with hosted applications, several sites or compliance requirements take longer, because each phase is tested first.
Sometimes, sometimes not. We model the monthly running cost before you commit and compare it with what your current server really costs, including replacement and maintenance.
It’s quoted in writing after the free assessment, based on users, data and applications. Ongoing Managed IT runs $80 to $150 CAD per user per month.
